“What’s a global copyright agency?”
Just as celebrities and entertainers collaborate with their management agency, a global copyright agency handles all things that have to do with promotion, publication, international marketing, translation, and copyright management so that writers and creatives can focus on their creative work.
This is a publishing culture that has long existed in WEL and European territories. Most writers working in English, and global writers of various national backgrounds, such as Haruki Murakami, Paulo Coelho, and Orhan Pamuk, all have exclusive agents that work for them.
Domestic Service
All of Charm Agency authors are considered to have global potential, and will enter into a contract that covers the agency’s representation right internationally, which includes first and foremost domestic promotion.
All agency services, from promotion and publications to contract review, do not incur additional charges other than the agency commissions, except for foreign taxes and bank fees that occur during international transactions. Global Service
All of Charm Agency authors are considered to have global potential, and will enter into a contract that covers the agency’s representation right internationally, which includes promotion outside Korea.
All agency services, from promotion and publication negotiation to contract review, do not incur additional charges other than the agency commissions, except for foreign taxes and bank fees that occur during international transactions. (Details about the agency contract can be found at the bottom of this page).
*However, in order to hire a translator for the author’s work, the agency might ask the author to fill in grant application forms, or require the author to participate in promotional meetings with international publishers or producers, in which case the agency will provide interpretation free of charge.

Film/TV rights
All of Charm Agency authors are considered to have global potential, and will enter into a contract that covers the agency’s representation right internationally, which includes domestic and global publishing rights, secondary rights, film and TV rights.
For film and TV rights, potentially the biggest income source for any copyright holder, Charm Agency recognizes the copyright holder’s contribution, and works to include in any such contract protective clauses in favor of the copyright holder such as profit sharing, so the copyright holder will continuously benefit from future sales and franchise profit.
Charm Agency boasts a wide network of the following Hollywood or London-based producers and works for the long-lasting, sustainable recognition of Korean content in the global market.

The following agency commission rates are the same for all authors, and other details of the contract may be revised upon mutual agreement.
* For translators, a contract will differ based on publication history and the nature of each work, so please inquire if you have questions about a agency-translator contract.
# Agency Commission
Charm Agency and its partners (co-agents), in exchange for the services including but not limited to those listed above, reserve the right to collect all monies that incur from contract they handled on behalf of the copyright holder, and will deduct their commissions (specific rates clarified below). If foreign taxes or bank fees occur, these expenses will be deducted from all such collected monies, and the agency commissions will be calculated based on the net profit before deducting such taxes and fees.
